Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Bob Theis at 6:30 p.m. on September 14, at Bob Theis' home. There were eight board members present and one homeowner. Treasurer's Report: The two homeowners who have not paid their 2005 dues were sent a notice requesting immediate payment. The checking account has a balance of $3,974 and the savings account has a balance of $6,707. Distribution of By-Laws to Homeowners: The restated by-laws and covenants were filed with Dakota County on September 12, 2005. It may take up to 12 weeks for Dakota County to complete the paperwork and mail the certified document back to the attorney. The board should be able to give the homeowners their restated by-laws and covenants copy by the end of 2005. Buckthorn in our woods: A brochure entitled, "A guide to Buckthorn Busting" will be on the River Woods website. Homeowners will be able to download the brochure and print it out on how to "tackle" this pesky weed this fall in their area. Dakota County Taxes: Two board members are working together to develop a letter to Dakota County on behalf of the 101 homeowners of River Woods. Airport noise and other documentations will be verified before sending the letter to the county requesting them to look at River Wood's tax base on our homes. Fall Clean-Up: The fall clean-up will start at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2005 in the commons area. Please bring your rakes with you to help clean up the paths and entrance areas. Web-Site: River Woods talented homeowner Mike Phenicie has totally revamped our website - thank you Mike for all of the time and talent you unselfishly give to our association and website. (www.riverwoods.info). Mailbox Theft: In August, a homeowner's mail was taken from their mailbox. Tampering with the mail is a federal offense. If you see suspicious activity in and around your neighborhoods mailboxes - please call the U.S. Postal Service immediately -this should be documented with the proper authorities. There may be a pattern developing in our area and we want to stop this stealing and tampering as soon as possible. National Night Out - America's Night Out Against Crime: Between 6,200 and 6,800 Burnsville residents participated in this year's National Night Out on August 2nd, collecting 4,355 pounds of food for the local food shelves. We had over 60 residents enjoy our root beer float night and we collected about 8 grocery bags of food. Thank you for your generosity. Board Terms: We still have a board vacancy in Area 7. We would like to thank Rita Meyer for serving on the board. We are truly grateful to each board member who unselfishly volunteers their valuable time to represent their area. Welcoming Committee: Please take the time to welcome Louis and Donna Sorenson of 3313 Red Oak Circle South and their children Ben, Ariana, Jason, Philip, Jacob and Tim. There are two homes for sale in our area: 12125 Red Oak Court South and 3200 Red Oak Circle North. Please let the welcoming committee know when you are putting your home on the market. We would like to get the association by-laws and covenants to the real estate agency and potential home buyers before they purchase a home in our area. Next Meeting: The next board meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, at Bob Theis home at 3300 Red Oak Circle North. Homeowners are always welcome. |
